Finding Forever - Common
Review by: The Great Elephant
Rating 3.5 out of 5 stars
Before listening to this album, I was very skeptical about
the end result of the Common and Kanye West Duo. Be was a
great album, but short in track and album length, but I must
admit that this album is a great album. For those who had
given up on Common because of his tight shirt era or because
they aren't feeling Kanye, will be highly surprised
at the ferocity of Finding Forever.
Much like Puffy and Pete Rock, Kanye is all over the album,
if not on the beats, then he is dropping a verse. This album
is a great mature sophomoric effort on part of the Chi's
dynamic duo. The rawness and ruggedness reminds you of the
concentration Common had on One Day it Will all Make sense.
For many listeners this will be a great relief.
There is no surprise that one of the nicest cuts is an ode
to the windy city, but further along in the album you will
get to experience songs that are deep, melodic and thought
provoking. Songs such as U, Black Maybe makes you think that
Common has not lost his conscious vibe and is clearly growing
as an artist. For those who like those tracks that are for
the ladies such as Come Close, you will not be disappointed
with another semi-sappy track entitled So Far to Go.
All in all, Finding Forever is a classic Common album. It
might take forever for it to go Gold, but for those of you
who buy this album, you will be glad to hear Finding Forever.

"Say
My Name"
Here we say a person's name or a short couple of words and the reviewer gets
a chance to respond:
Don Imus: I mean...corrected
but not fired, black people get away with dissin' white
people all the time. We are overly sensitive. He should
have been fined or something, but not fired. We don't fire
Tom Joyner for making blatant ignorant statements about
white folk. But then again, we don't call white people
nappy headed ho's either. The ho comment is what bothers
me the most, not the nappy part, the broads were nappy.
Mike Vick: Would we be
going through this if he was white? That's how I feel, f*ck
PETA, although dog fighting is cruel, I'm not down with it.
Peyton Manning would not be getting this type of treatment,
we would have never even heard about it.
Presidential Candidate: I
don't think I like any of them right now, maybe I need
to see more of the mud slinging. I don't believe in any
of these candidates.
Who Gets The Gas Face: Cornell
West, Eric Dyson
